At AtkinsRéalis, we are seeking an experienced and skilled River Engineering Director to play a vital role in shaping our exciting projects. In this key leadership position, you will have the opportunity to work on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure, collaborating with talented teams and clients to deliver industry-leading river engineering and flood defence solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and direct teams undertaking technical design work following relevant design standards and codes.
  • Define briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Set quality assurance standards in design.
  • Grow, develop, and manage engineering capability within the practice.

Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Civil Engineer or equivalent.
  • Experience in owning design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in design such as flood walls and embankments, weirs, hydraulic structures, culverts, scour protection, access and accessibility, and construction logistics.
  • Familiarity with current UK design standards, guidance, and working practices.
  • Proficiency in delivering both traditional engineering and environmentally focused solutions using nature-based strategies.
