Support Worker Role Overview

At Orbis Education and Care, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to children and adults with complex needs associated with autism. Our team of creative education, care, and therapeutic professionals work together to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes the emotional and physical well-being of each individual.

About Summergil House
Surrounded by 18 acres of fields and woodlands, Summergil House is a stunning school and home on the border of Herefordshire and Powys. Our team supports children to feel safe and respected, providing bright and colourful child-friendly environments in which to learn, live, and make friends. Our aim is to help children to be themselves, creating lasting memories of childhood as they develop into independent young people and adults.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalised care to each person in their daily activities, including personal care, learning, and social interactions.
  • Foster a safe and positive environment, ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of each person.
  • Implement individualised care plans, under the guidance of an incredibly supportive senior team.
  • Support our young people during recreational activities, outings, and community integration.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in our young people, celebrating their achievements and milestones.

Requirements:
  • A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
  • A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
  • Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including weekends and occasional night shifts.
  • A driving license is preferable and access to own transport would be advantageous.
