Job Title: Biomedical Scientist - Immunology Laboratory

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist to join our Immunology Laboratory team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out laboratory investigations on paediatric samples, taking responsibility for quality and accuracy of the results produced. This will include ELISA, allergy testing, indirect immunofluorescence techniques, cell culture and proliferation assays, and flow cytometry techniques.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To carry out laboratory investigations on paediatric samples, taking responsibility for quality and accuracy of the results produced.
  • To participate in the training of staff as required.
  • To participate in the training of visiting personnel from other departments or trusts.
  • To be able to receive verbal information from users of the service and act on this information or pass it on clearly and accurately to senior laboratory staff.
  • To participate in research projects within the department and across the directorate and ICH.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Medical Laboratory Science or completion of Grade A/STP Clinical Scientist training programme.
  • Previous experience of working in an accredited Immunology laboratory.
  • Scientific knowledge of laboratory procedures, including the use of SOPs and understanding of the safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and document control.
  • Monitoring of NEQAS results.
