Senior Motor Portfolio Underwriter:

Ageas is seeking a highly skilled Senior Motor Portfolio Underwriter to join our Eastleigh-based Underwriting team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter to work on our Broker Motor portfolio, collaborating closely with the Pricing and Distribution teams to develop new rating concepts and alternative trading models.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing new factors, managing rate strength, and enhancing our forward-looking understanding of risk. Strong numeracy and communication skills are essential for this role, as the Senior Motor Underwriter will gather, interpret, and present segmentation information to internal and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the profitable growth of the Broker Private Car Portfolio through ongoing analytical review of KPIs.
  • Review underwriting acceptance rules and documentation, making recommendations for changes to deliver profitable performance and optimize growth.
  • Recommend new underwriting concepts, product covers, and documentation using market, legal, and competitor analysis.
  • Support the Pricing team by suggesting new enhancements or alterations to pricing or underwriting.
  • Take responsibility for our Underwriting Footprint and collaborate with the Strategy team to broaden our competitive footprint across the broker portfolio.
  • Key liaison point with brokers, partners, external service providers, and internal Sales, Claims, and management teams.

Requirements:

  • A sound understanding of underwriting and pricing principles, with experience in technical issues affecting the Personal Motor Insurance Market.
  • A high degree of numeracy, with strong ability to analyze and interpret large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain policy wordings, underwriting decisions, and audit outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Confident decision-maker with a willingness to take responsibility.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple streams, and meet deadlines.
