Job Title: Clinical Psychologist/Counselling PsychologistJob Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing highly specialist psychology services to children with learning disabilities and their families across all sectors of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessments for children with learning disabilities and their carers referred to the service.
  • Formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of emotional and behavioural disorders in children, young people and families with a co-existing LD diagnosis.
  • Work to prevent placement breakdown, and far more effective rehabilitation of children and young people back into their families where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
Requirements:
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or counselling psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
  • Substantive post-qualification experience of working within a multidisciplinary specialist CAMHS team and of proving specialist CAMHS assessment and intervention.
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and their networks.
  • Experience of providing supervision and consultation.
  • Experience of working with interpreters.
  • Experience of working with other agencies, including Education, Social Care and the voluntary sector.
