Job Description

Renishaw PLC is seeking a skilled PCB Design Engineer to join our team in Wotton-under-Edge. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality PCB designs for our innovative products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop PCB designs for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Create complete design packages, including PCB design data, fabrication, and assembly drawings, and supporting design files.
  • Review and check design data to ensure production standards are maintained, and collaborate with the PCB and project design teams to resolve any issues.
  • Work closely with electronic designers and production engineers to develop and maintain library data and processes, ensuring a high level of design integrity.
  • Develop PCB designs for a variety of products, including rigid and flexi board designs, multiple layer count, high-performance, and both analogue and digital designs.
Requirements:
  • HNC Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of designing with high-speed digital design, analogue, or complex circuits, including fine pitch components (BGA) and high pin count devices.
  • Experience of working within an engineering design environment, with a strong understanding of electronic design documentation (schematic and layout definitions).
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes, as well as Design for Manufacture / Test (DFM, DFT) principles.
  • Ability to work to predefined time scales and deadlines, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Familiarity and use of Zuken or Altium EDA tools.
  • Understanding of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • An understanding of electronic circuits and components, including PCB routing for impedance control, power planes, and signal integrity.
  • Experience of EMC requirements for PCB design, as well as knowledge of UL, FCC, and CE certification.
  • Knowledge and ability to work to IPC standards.
