Milk Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Support worker to join their team in one of their partner Special Schools in London. This role offers the opportunity to work with students aged 4-19 who have autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and severe learning difficulties.

Job Description

This position involves supporting students with their communication skills and increasing independence through engaging sensory activities and a class structure. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to personalise each student's learning journey, taking into account their individual sensory, behaviour, communication, medical, and learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have Special Educational Needs, excellent communication skills, and be proactive in supporting adaptations within the learning environment. They will also possess excellent organisational and IT skills, as well as the ability to assist teachers in preparing resources or intervention supports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with their communication skills and increasing independence through engaging sensory activities and a class structure.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to personalise each student's learning journey, taking into account their individual sensory, behaviour, communication, medical, and learning needs.
  • Assisting teachers in preparing resources or intervention supports.
  • Being aware of and supporting difference, ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students who have Special Educational Needs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive in supporting adaptations within the learning environment.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of the teacher as well as part of a team.
