Job Summary

The post holder will be an integral part of the Scan 4 Safety Management Team. The key responsibility will be to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the solution for Theatres. The role requires upholding the Trust's values and further developing the department in line with its strategic goals. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring an effective and efficient service is provided to end users.

The role will be responsible for the operational management and development of the Sterile Services and Scan4Safety teams. The post holder will be a key mentor and trainer as the team looks to the future. Management of the offsite decontamination service and supply of reusable instruments within the Trust will also be a responsibility. Additionally, the post holder will support the implementation of the new Electronic Inventory Management (IM) technology and ensure safe stock levels are maintained.

Internal management of the sterile supply service, including theatre stores, will be a key responsibility. The post holder will be one of the main points of contact for the Trust to the off-site sterile service provider and for the management of the internal collection and delivery service for the sterile supply throughout the Trust.

The role will be responsible for ensuring that the service is delivered in accordance with accepted best practice, both national and international laws and Trust policies and procedures.

Main Duties of the Job

  1. Management of Sterile Services team across Trust sites, ensuring effective management of operations.
  2. Management of Theatres Scan4Safety team, ensuring effective use of inventory management system to support stock management.
  3. Contract management of off-site sterile services outsourced contract, ensuring contract delivery is optimised.
  4. Development of staff within the team.
  5. Optimisation of service across all sites, including the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) due to open in the future.
  6. Operation as a senior member of the Procurement & Logistics team.

Qualifications

Essential

  1. Postgraduate level qualification or equivalent experience in Sterile Services area (or similar).
  2. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Experience / Knowledge

Essential

  1. Experience of managing Sterile Services or similar operational department.
  2. Experience of managing / working knowledge of outsourced sterile services contracts.
  3. Understanding of computer systems including sterile services tracking software.
  4. Experience of managing teams in a challenging environment.

Desirable

  1. Experience of using inventory management systems.
