We are delighted to offer a Sous Chef position at a stunning country hotel, commutable to Newcastle, as part of our independent clients' team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong career-minded Sous Chef to join a professional, food-focused environment with a highly respected head chef.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a proven fresh food background, ideally working within a rosette-winning or Michelin-recognized kitchen. Experience working within a medium-sized kitchen team is essential, as well as a real appetite for working with the best seasonal, local produce. Sound kitchen management experience is required, although training will be given, and an understanding of latest H&S and allergen regulations, COSSH, and HACCP knowledge is necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and budgeting
- Manage kitchen operations, including inventory control and staff supervision
- Ensure high-quality food production and presentation
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to achieve excellent service standards
A competitive salary of £41,000 based on an hourly rate of £17.50 per hour, a 5-day working week, and potential promotion opportunities. We also offer a relocation package, including short-term accommodation, and a pension scheme.
Requirements- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a similar environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor
- Own means of transport is ideal, although the venue is only 20 minutes' drive from Newcastle city centre
