Job Overview

Safran Landing Systems, a leading aerospace company, is seeking a skilled Laboratory Process Technician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis and management of vat solutions associated with salvage activities, with a focus on electroplating and zinc nickel.
  • Compile and publish vat analysis data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and test test panels, salt spray checks, Lawrence gauge analysis, and paint strip controls, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Assist in the control and procurement of processing chemicals, ensuring compliance with COMAH requirements.
  • Work with supervision and engineering to resolve issues related to chemistry and ancillary equipment.
  • Review process control specifications to ensure compliance and optimize specifications.
  • Maintain and refine existing works procedures, and develop new ones as needed.
  • Support new product and process compliance, including chemistry-based gap analysis and related gap closing activities.
  • Provide laboratory support for internal and external audits, ensuring quality management system compliance.
  • Provide technical support for designated turnkey projects.
  • Manage the metal finishing facility (MFF) plating plant, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM) for vats, ancillary, and environmental equipment.

Requirements

  • Substantive experience in engineering, plating apprenticeship, or equivalent, ideally in the aerospace or automotive sectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electroplating and its associated techniques.
  • Ability to carry out a wide range of electroplating analysis and familiarity with tools, techniques, and equipment associated with the activity.
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and regulatory documentation, and use this information to ensure compliance.
  • Comprehensive process knowledge.
  • Experience with COSHH and the safe use and treatment of chemicals.
  • Ability to read methods and sequences of operations.
  • Effective organization and planning skills, with the ability to manage personal workload.
