Laboratory Process Technician, Chemistry Specialist

Safran Landing Systems is a world leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, committed to safer, more sustainable aviation for current and future generations. Our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation partners with global customers, including major airlines such as British Airways, easyJet, and Air Canada.
Due to internal promotion, we are now recruiting for a Laboratory Process Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Analysis and management of vat solutions associated with salvage activity, with a focus on Electro Plating.
- Compilation and publication of vat analysis data.
- Preparation and testing of test panels, salt spray checks, Lawrence Gauge Analysis, and paint strip controls.
- Assisting in the control and procurement of processing chemicals, ensuring compliance with COMAH requirements.
- Working with Supervision and Engineering to resolve issues related to chemistry and ancillary equipment.
- Reviewing Process Control Specifications to ensure compliance and optimisation.
- Maintenance and refinement of existing Works Procedures (WPs).
- New product and process compliance, including chemistry-based gap analysis and related gap closing activity.
- Quality Management System support, including laboratory support for internal and external audits.
- Providing technical support for designated Turnkey projects.
- Working as part of the laboratory team in the management of the Metal Finishing Facility (MFF) plating plant.

Safran Landing Systems is a centre of excellence, dedicated to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of landing gears and associated components for civil, military, and helicopter aircraft. Our Gloucester site supports the overhaul of over 350 legs per year, with a dedicated team of engineers to support customers on-wing when issues emerge in service.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Substantive and demonstrable experience in Engineering or Plating Apprenticeship, or equivalent, ideally gained in the aerospace or automotive sectors.
- A comprehensive knowledge of electro-plating and its associated techniques.
- Ability to carry out a wide range of electro plating analysis and familiarity with tools, techniques, and equipment associated with said activity.
- The ability to read and understand specifications and regulatory documentation.
- A comprehensive process knowledge.
- Experience with COSHH and the safe use and treatment of chemicals.
- The ability to read methods and sequences of operations.
- Demonstrate effective organisation and planning skills.
- Have a keen sense of 'Right First Time'.
- Have good problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong quality awareness.
- Good IT skills.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Team working ethics.
- Self-managing and reliant.
- Flexibility.
- Must be willing to train and take on board new skills.
