Children's Complex Care Senior Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Children's Complex Care Senior Nurse to join our team at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care and advice to staff, children, and families with complex healthcare needs.
Main Responsibilities- Provide clinical expertise to staff caring for children and young people requiring long-term ventilated care.
- Work with the service clinical manager to maintain and improve the quality of practice and service delivery.
- Carry out and support audits to demonstrate effectiveness.
- Identify training requirements for the Children's Complex Care service.
- Ensure that assessments, planning, and delivery of holistic care are at the highest standard using an agreed nursing model.
- Support equality and diversity when engaging in professional duties with clients and in all working relationships.
- Delegate and monitor the individual caseload of team members for effective and timely caseload management and reporting to the service manager.
- Liaise with and work in collaboration with acute services, the primary health care team, and other agencies when planning and implementing programmes of care.
- Recognise situations that may be detrimental to the child's physical and psychological well-being and deal with individual situations according to Trust and local agency policies.
- Teach and mentor staff.
- Undertake risk assessments prior to service delivery within the home setting to ensure staff safety.
- Responsible for ensuring staff maintain trust standards in record keeping.
- Responsible for safeguarding children.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- Registered Staff Children's Nurse (RSCN) or Registered Nurse (RN) Child Branch or equivalent qualification.
- Evidence of recent Post Basic Training.
- Community Children's Nursing qualification degree level or willingness to undertake.
- ENB 998 (Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice) or equivalent.
- Clinical assessment course/Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
Desirable qualifications include Independent supplementary nurse prescriber.
Key Skills and KnowledgeThe successful candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:
- Ability to manage the team on a day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrate knowledge relating to child protection issues and procedures.
- Evidence of assessment skills and use of the nursing process and nursing models.
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Care.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes affecting the NHS and Social Services particularly those affecting Primary Care.
- Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and application of clinical trends and practices including evidence-based, particularly concerning Children's Community Nursing.
- Ability to teach relatives, patients, clients, students, and staff across all areas of self-care and appropriate nursing practice.
The successful candidate will be independently mobile across the trust and have a flexible approach to working hours, times, and days of the week.
