Assistant Maintenance Manager Job Description

A leading dairy processing company is seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager to join their team at their sites in Grassington and Keighley. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing electrical and mechanical maintenance to a range of machinery, including shrink wrappers, conveyors, generators, chillers, and bottling machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • React to urgent breakdowns and implement effective solutions to minimize machine downtime.
  • Perform electrical repairs, including motor, drive, inverter, encoder, board, wiring, switch, relay, contactor, and sensor repairs.
  • Record and communicate all findings and recommendations to the engineering team.
  • Assist with projects and the installation of new plant, including planning and coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with the engineering manager and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with developing and implementing line improvements, new installations, offline repairs, planned maintenance, and other tasks as required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including ordering of parts and inventory management.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities, including breakdown and routine maintenance.
  • Cover for the Manager in their absence, as required.
Requirements:
  • Essential experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, with a proven track record in an engineering and fault-finding role.
  • Electrical qualification or willingness to undertake training to gain qualification.
  • Experience with electronics, PLC, pneumatics, mechanical engineering, and welding.
  • A can-do attitude and strong work ethic.
Working Conditions:

The position is based on a 5-day week, Monday to Saturday, with an average of 48 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work at two sites, with a company pension scheme in place.
