Job Title: Director of Nursing and Quality

Job Summary:

Marie Curie is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Nursing and Quality to lead our dedicated nursing workforce and clinical teams in delivering exceptional, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct line management of nursing and AHP leads, clinical education lead, and research lead across the region.
  • Ensure that all staff have appropriate personal development plans in place.
  • Support the hospice nursing and AHP team to deliver robust and effective staff management including regular reviews of appraisal, sickness, rostering and other metrics.
  • Support the nursing and AHP managers to develop effective strategies for recruitment and retention including the creation of novel roles where appropriate.
  • Working with the local lead for safeguarding, ensure policies and processes are in place and adhered to.
  • Oversee management of sickness and capability of hospice nursing and AHP staff and work alongside HR to ensure effective monitoring and planning is in place.
  • Takes personal responsibility for ensuring appropriate investigation of serious complaints and incidents including appropriate delegation and supervision.
  • Ensuring all staff are engaged with reporting and learning from incidents, complaints and compliments.
  • Takes responsibility for the management and improvement of systems and processes relating to complaints and incidents management.

Requirements:

  • Senior leader with a proven background in driving quality and safety through robust governance processes within a complex health or social care system.
  • Registered nurse with valid NMC pin.
  • Evidence of successfully leading clinical teams and services to deliver high quality, safe, patient centred care.
  • Experience in quality improvement and change management.
  • Experience in workforce management and leadership, including workforce planning, recruitment and retention, developing staff, and performance and capability management.
  • Proven leader with a transformational, coaching style of leadership.
  • Previous experience of being a CQC Registered Manager is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and expertise of investigating Serious Incidents and complex complaints.
