Biomedical Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Specialist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will have a strong background in transfusion medicine and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Our team covers the transfusion requirements for four hospitals and two hospices, overseeing the transfusion of 41,500 units of blood, plasma, and platelets every year.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team providing a clinical technical service and a high-quality laboratory service. As a Biomedical Specialist, you will be responsible for performing complex technical procedures, using LIMS to enter and manage patient information, and communicating with users of the service to provide specialist clinical technical advice. You will also be expected to participate in quality assurance schemes, contribute to departmental meetings, and maintain patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of complex technical procedures
- Use LIMS to enter, manage, retrieve, interpret, validate, and authorise patient information and results
- Communicate complex clinical technical information to users of the service
- Participate in quality assurance schemes
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Requirements
- Post-registration experience within the speciality
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Basic knowledge and computer literacy
- Physically able to move around and between sites
Salary
The salary for this role is £32,306 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience.
