The Train Service Manager role is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of train services in accordance with the Great Western Railway (GWR) timetable. This involves collaborating with GWR colleagues and Network Rail teams to provide an exceptional customer experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the timely delivery of the timetable promise by leveraging resources effectively and proactively monitoring live train running.
  • Make informed decisions to optimize fleet utilization and area operations to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Network Rail routes and stations to influence train performance during disruptions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to relevant systems.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate service disruptions.
  • Contribute to the daily company log, highlighting business issues, incidents, and service monitoring.
Requirements
  • Calm and composed under pressure.
  • Able to react confidently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of decisions on medium- to long-term outcomes.
  • Effective communication and influence across all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
