Acute Medicine Consultant Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Acute Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team at St Marys Hospital on the Isle of Wight. As a key member of our Acute Medicine team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Acute Medical Services.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in General Internal Medicine and Acute Medicine, with experience in leading clinical teams and developing services. You will be responsible for providing consultant-led care for patients on our Acute Medical Wards and in our Same Day Emergency Care Department.

About the Role
  • Provide consultant-led care for patients on Acute Medical Wards and in Same Day Emergency Care Department
  • Lead clinical teams and develop services to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of our Acute Medical Services, including the expansion of our Same Day Emergency Care Department
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Participate in education, mentoring, and supervision of junior medical staff
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine; eligible for entry on the Register or within 6 months of the receipt of Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) at the time of interview
  • Experience in leading clinical teams and developing services
  • Strong background in General Internal Medicine and Acute Medicine
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Experience in postgraduate teaching and clinical audit
