Casualty Underwriting Director

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Regional Casualty to join our team at Howden. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for leading the underwriting strategy and appetite for the relevant line of business, working closely with our Chief Underwriting Officer and other senior leaders to deliver our business plan.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting Strategy: Develop and implement underwriting strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize results.
- Capacity Provider Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with capacity providers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve business objectives.
- Underwriting Governance: Establish and maintain underwriting standards and authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of underwriters, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
- Experience: Significant experience in casualty underwriting, including senior authority level roles.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of underwriters.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with capacity providers and other stakeholders.
