About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at HMP Lewes, a category B Prison located in East Sussex. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality pharmaceutical services to patients in a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Work as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stock returns from wing-based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers and arrange collection of returns
  • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions

Person Specification

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent
  • Medicines handling experience desirable but not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
