Town Planner Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with a leading developer on the hire of a Town Planner for their office in Lancaster. This is a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Producing site assessments, detailed examination of planning histories, policy analysis, interpretation, and consideration of material considerations.
  • Setting up and inputting into new site appraisals for immediate and strategic sites in a timely manner to meet required deadlines.
  • Preparing and project managing different types of planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharge of planning conditions.
  • Liaising and briefing internal and external layout designers, external consultants, and officers at Local Planning Authorities.
  • Preparing Planning Statements and other planning documents required to support applications accurately and on time.
  • Organising supporting information and attending required stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism.
  • Formulating planning strategies to promote medium and long-term development sites through the plan-making process.
  • Deputising for the Head of Planning to provide support and assistance to the team.
  • Monitoring development plan progress and associated evidence-based and policy documents within each local planning authority area.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management/planning policy.
  • Degree/Masters Planning Degree ideally with an MRTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of town planning.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
