Job Title: Apprentice Building/Quantity Surveyor

Edge Careers is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Building/Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our support functions, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our student accommodation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with consultants and contractors.
  2. Support the compilation and issue of invitations to tender, analyze contractor quotations, and make recommendations for placement of orders.
  3. Procure robust, clear, and considered contracts or appointments for contractors and consultants for the delivery of pre and post-contract services.
  4. Visit sites to measure and value any completed works.
  5. Assess contractor payment entitlement and process payments.
  6. Ensure contract variations are identified, valued, and agreed with the contractors in a timely manner and in line with the specific construction contract(s).
  7. Prepare the final account and settlement where no external consultants are engaged.
  8. Utilize existing frameworks, in line with benchmarked costings and programme information, to procure and deliver refurbishment works.
  9. Update internal cost databases for use in current and future project forecasting.
  10. Produce monthly forecast final cost reports taking into account variations under consideration or instructed to ensure financial modeling and cashflows are accurate and maintained.
Requirements:
  1. Qualification in quantity surveying or construction management.
  2. Main contractor or PQS background with refurbishment and new build expertise.
  3. Demonstrable experience of cost management on a variety of projects.
  4. Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external parties.
  5. Aptitude for working with numbers and absorbing and analyzing technical information.
  6. Good IT skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent.

Pay: £55,000.00 per year.

Additional pay: Bonus scheme.

Education: Bachelor's (preferred).

Experience: Surveying: 1 year (preferred).
