Job Title: Strategic Financial Operations Specialist

The Great Bear is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Financial Operations Specialist to join our Finance team at our site. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in analysing the performance of the Profit and Loss statement, preparing budgets, forecasts, and providing essential financial information within an open-book customer operation.

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, offering a competitive salary and package. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing weekly production P&L reporting for sites, reviewing weekly costings and KPI information for operational teams and head office, creating and maintaining accurate Management Information for the operational team, and supporting roles in the preparation or review of monthly management accounts.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Strategic Financial Operations Specialist will perform financial analysis, including cost to serve, cost per bottle/case, variance analysis, and customer budgeting, produce monthly review packs of financial and operational management information for discussion with customers at review meetings, produce annual budgets and periodic forecasts, ensure customers are invoiced accurately, support roles in receiving cash to terms, and numerous finance-related ad-hoc reports and project tasks as required.

  • Experience in the logistics industry
  • Proven experience of working within an open book operation
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Attention to detail and analytical approach
  • Clear and succinct communicator at all levels
  • Experienced in accounts preparation, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and income deferral
  • Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data
  • Comfortable working individually and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and improvement ideas for the benefit of the company and its staff
  • Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines
