Job Title: Commercial Finance Analyst

Otto James Consulting is supporting a Cheshire-based organisation in its search for a skilled Commercial Finance Analyst.

This role will see the successful candidate work closely with the Senior Management Team and the wider business to provide the necessary clarity required to understand business performance.

Insightful analysis is at the forefront of our decision-making process, and the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the business, promoting growth, and adding value.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the continuous improvement and delivery of reporting packs and performance management reports to senior stakeholders up to Board level.

Utilising the latest data interrogation techniques, the successful candidate will be able to successfully influence outcomes and frame key messages succinctly.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly revenue and Work in Progress reporting - ensuring it is accurate, timely, and the variances are understood.
  2. Scenario modelling prospective business growth plans and large-scale investments.
  3. Providing commercial support to the wider business across budgeting and reforecasting in particular.
  4. Continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting - broaden the sources of data used for reporting.
  5. Working very closely with the SLT to drive interaction with the wider business whilst providing ad-hoc analysis and financial support to the decision-making process.
  6. Reporting on and improving the visibility of all company revenue streams - promoting cross-selling (locally and globally).
  7. Working in partnership with line managers to devise new KPIs and performance targets.
  8. Reinforcing the quality and accuracy of revenue reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  9. Tactically improving the overall accuracy of the commercial finance function.
  10. Manage the new implementation of the Financial Dashboard - simplifying the reports for Business Lines and Regional Heads.
  11. Develop and continue to improve the business pricing structure and models.
  12. Provide regular financial analysis/qualitative and quantitative information to business units.
  13. Working in partnership with the wider FP&A function in order to simplify complex reporting and assist with the delivery of the Group annual plan.
  14. Drive project decisions and challenge stakeholder assumptions to ensure robust decision-making.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. CIMA/ACA/ACCA Qualified.
  2. Advanced MS Office skills (particularly Excel).
  3. Strong modelling skills.
  4. Demonstrable track record of commercial finance experience - able to demonstrate evidence of working in a growing organisation with the ability to bridge the gap between finance and the business.
  5. Proven ability to interpret financial information and results in the context of operational performance.
  6. Present findings in a confident, articulate manner.
  7. Commercially-minded, highly analytical with a problem-solving mindset.
  8. Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  9. Experience working with and influencing both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  10. Excellent communication (oral and written).
  11. Robust character with confidence in challenging existing status quo.
