Job Title: English Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at The Aurora Group. As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students, helping them to achieve their full potential and develop a love for learning.

About the Role:

This is a part-time position, working up to 4 days per week, with a competitive salary and a range of benefits. You will be responsible for teaching English to students with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. Our students may present with challenging behaviors, and you will need to be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students aged 11-16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs.
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum, taking into account the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain and use short-, medium-, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalized targets to optimize learning for each individual.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Assist in the development of the curriculum offer, maintaining an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism to plan for effective teaching and learning.
  • Manage a delegated budget as required.
Requirements:
  • PGCE, QTS, QTLS teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach from Entry level 2 & 3, Functional Skills Level 1 & 2, and GCSEs in English.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students' progress.
  • Good IT skills and understanding of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well-organized, prioritize effectively, and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships.
