Job Title: English Teacher

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at The Aurora Group. As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to our students, helping them to achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to students with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. You will work collaboratively with other members of staff to develop and deliver the curriculum, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for the next stage in their lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students aged 11-16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Set and monitor personalized targets to optimize learning for each student.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
  • Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Assist in the development of the curriculum offer, maintaining an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism.
Requirements:
  • PGCE, QTS, QTLS teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach from Entry level 2 & 3, Functional Skills Level 1 & 2, and GCSEs in English.
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording, and reviewing students' progress.
  • Good IT skills and understanding of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well-organized, prioritize effectively, and achieve results against deadlines.
