Join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED as a Digital Forensic Investigator and take on the challenge of a 3-month contract with our local authority.

Working in the Digital Forensics Unit, you will be responsible for the identification, recovery, analysis, and reporting of examination of computer-related material in criminal, civil, or disciplinary investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To investigate allegations of fraud, corruption, or other irregularity alleged to have been committed against the council or its partners, including jointly with other agencies.
  2. To maintain the highest level of integrity and performance in delivering services to the council and partners.
  3. To have a broad knowledge of employment law in relation to internal investigations and disciplinary action.
  4. To attend search and seizure operations executed by the department against criminals, anywhere in the UK, providing expert advice on the correct identification and seizure of computer-related material.
  5. To undertake examinations of electronic material seized in criminal investigations, this may include computers, mobile phones, and other devices.
  6. To produce professional reports to investigation teams, lawyers, and other key stakeholders on your findings, supported by a professional witness statement where required.
  7. To ensure compliance with all aspects of the Investigation Manual and Circulars, such as in relation to the recording of investigation activity, particularly in respect of Health and Safety issues when working off-site and outside core hours.
  8. To undertake visits to suspects, witnesses, and other organizations and to obtain witness statements in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act and Civil Procedure Rules where applicable.
  9. To prepare and make applications for the authorization of covert surveillance activity, the obtaining of communications data, and the use of a covert human intelligence source.
  10. To prepare for and undertake covert surveillance with other officers, prepare and deliver operation orders and briefings for such activity to other staff, police officers, and other agencies.
  11. To act as a Covert Internet Investigator when required, to support any investigation by securing evidence, to bring offenders before the Courts.
  12. To provide support and advice to Investigators on the value and lawfulness of deploying a CII in any investigation.
  13. To have input into applications for search and seizure warrants around electronic material.
