Cybercrime Investigations

At CRA GROUP LIMITED, we are seeking a skilled Digital Forensics Analyst to join our team in the Digital Forensics Unit.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in identifying, recovering, analyzing, and reporting on computer-related material in criminal, civil, or disciplinary investigations.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Investigating allegations of fraud, corruption, or other irregularity alleged to have been committed against the council or its partners.
  2. Maintaining the highest level of integrity and performance in delivering services to the council and partners.
  3. Having a broad knowledge of employment law in relation to internal investigations and disciplinary action.
  4. Attending search and seizure operations executed by the department against criminals, providing expert advice on the correct identification and seizure of computer-related material.
  5. Undertaking examinations of electronic material seized in criminal investigations, including computers, mobile phones, and other devices.
  6. Producing professional reports to investigation teams, lawyers, and other key stakeholders on findings, supported by a professional witness statement where required.
  7. Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the Investigation Manual and Circulars, particularly in respect of Health and Safety issues when working off-site and outside core hours.
  8. Undertaking visits to suspects, witnesses, and other organizations to obtain witness statements in accordance with the Criminal Justice Act and Civil Procedure Rules.
  9. Preparing and making applications for the authorization of covert surveillance activity, the obtaining of communications data, and the use of a covert human intelligence source.
  10. Preparing for and undertaking covert surveillance with other officers, including preparing and delivering operation orders and briefings.
  11. Acting as a Covert Internet Investigator when required, to support any investigation by securing evidence and bringing offenders before the Courts.
  12. Providing support and advice to Investigators on the value and lawfulness of deploying a CII in any investigation.
  13. Having input into applications for search and seizure warrants around electronic material.
  14. Preparing applications for assistance from other agencies in joint arrest and search operations.
