About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Football Content. This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for the management of the editorial team and the development of our football programming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive innovation and creativity in our football programming, working closely with the Content & Production Leadership team to develop a strong creative vision and secure execution of all projects assigned.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision and direction of both local productions and the network, sharing ideas and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve our goals.
  • Lead and motivate a team of Producers, Associate Producers, and Directors, driving new content format ideas and compelling storytelling for our audiences.
  • Oversee the generation of creative ideas to support the direction of football programming, initiating discussions around new ideas and initiatives to increase efficiencies.
  • Work closely with the department lead to ensure the direction of the football production is aligned with WBD Sports broadcast strategy, from planning to execution stage.
  • Forward plan to provide production and editorial framework for seasonal programming and budgeting, collaborating with technical teams to manage equipment and necessary production resources.
  • Maintain and develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing WBD Sports and championing our brand.
Requirements
  • Significant production experience within live sport broadcasting, with a deep understanding of the sports television business, subscription television, and sports streaming platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of sports production techniques and industry trends, with strong leadership qualities for managing a team.
  • Excellent understanding of all contributing elements of a live/recorded TV show, with experience managing production budgets and working closely with production management.
  • Ability to continually challenge the status quo, identify improved ways of working, and efficiencies, with a willingness to work irregular hours in relation to sporting events.
