Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Interim Head of Highways and Transportation to lead our team in delivering high-quality infrastructure services. This pivotal role requires strategic management expertise, with a strong focus on innovation, customer service, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the council's highways and transportation functions, ensuring alignment with national and local priorities.
  • Drive service improvements to achieve high standards across highways and transportation operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies that embed transportation considerations into planning processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the highways and transportation portfolio.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven senior management experience in highways and transportation or a related field.
  • Strong track record in contract management and delivery of major public realm infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of highways asset management, traffic management, transportation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in programme and project management techniques.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering, Transportation).
Salary and Location

This is an interim position based in Wiltshire, offering a salary of circa £77 per hour/£575 per day Inside IR35.
