Salary and Benefits

You'll be offered a competitive salary of £21,840 per annum, which is reflective of the local market rate for a technical operator role in Bristol. In addition to your salary, you'll also receive a range of benefits, including 25 days of annual leave, a defined pension scheme, and access to discounted healthcare, gym membership, and other perks.

About the Role

This apprenticeship is an exciting entry-level opportunity to join the BBC in towns and cities across the country. As a Technical Operator Apprentice, you'll work alongside journalists and programme makers to ensure the broadcast equipment and technology side of our business runs smoothly. You'll gain hands-on experience in a variety of skills, including camera operations, floor management, TV vision mixing, sound operations, and technical directing.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet certain criteria. You must be at least 18 years old, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for at least 3 years, and be eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract. You'll also need to have Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification. We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about media content and the technical production side of how it reaches the audience.

What You'll Study

As part of this apprenticeship, you'll study for an industry-recognised qualification through the National Film and Television School. You'll learn both on and off the job, gaining valuable experience and developing your skills in a variety of areas, including picture and audio editing, ingest and library functions, and shoot and edit multi-skilled operator roles.
