About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Hepatology Dietitian to join our esteemed team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional dietetic services to patients with liver disease and transplantation, and lead the development of our hepatology dietetic services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead Dietitian in Hepatology and Transplant Team
    • Provide specialist dietetic services to patients with liver disease and transplantation, working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
    • Develop and implement evidence-based dietetic services for patients with liver disease and transplantation, including inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Service Development and Leadership
    • Lead the development of our hepatology dietetic services, including the design and implementation of new services and programs.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the dietetic team, including mentoring and supervising junior dietitians.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for patients with liver disease and transplantation.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals, including surgeons, physicians, and nurses, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Quality Improvement and Education
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of quality improvement projects.
    • Develop and maintain education and training programs for dietitians and other healthcare professionals.

Person Specification
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Registered Dietitian with active HCPC registration.
    • Appropriate diploma/degree to Masters level, such as Masters in Advanced Dietetic Practice or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
    • Strong evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with evidence of training in specialist clinical areas.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Courses undertaken relevant to hepatology/transplantation or equivalent professional society.
    • Member of the Gastroenterology Specialist Group (GSG) or equivalent professional society.
    • Undertaken courses accredited by professional body relevant to the post.
  • Essential Experience
    • Significant level of general dietetic experience plus demonstrable clinical experience in hepatology and/or transplantation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Demonstrable interest in working within hepatology and transplant.
    • Proven ability to perform at Band 7 level and work independently.
    • Proven development work.
    • MDT work with influential role and point of reference for the team.
    • Experience of audit and/or research leading to service review/development.
    • Talks/group/education session work.
    • Experience of using anthropometric techniques to assess nutritional status.
  • Desirable Experience
    • Student training experience.
    • Speaker at training days/conferences at local, regional, and national level.
    • ISAK attendance/accreditation or suitable anthropometric accreditation.
    • Supervision, training, and direction of junior members of staff.
    • Involved in recruitment.
    • Involvement in appraising junior staff members.
