We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team in the Oncology & Haematology Emergency Assessment Bay (EAB) at Northampton General Hospital. As a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality clinical care to cancer patients and supporting junior colleagues in their learning and development.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with the department Sister to maintain smooth daily operations and workflow on EAB and Talbot Butler ward. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients. In addition, you will participate in the daily running of the department, ensuring efficient and effective operations, and take charge on shift in the absence of the Sister/ Charge Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high standards of care to patients and their families, ensuring excellent patient experience.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.
- Participate in the daily running of the department, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Take charge on shift in the absence of the Sister/ Charge Nurse.
- Assist with the management and leadership of the department, maintaining an appropriate management style that promotes good morale, teamwork, and a culture that fosters innovation and change.
To be successful in this role, you will need to hold NMC registration and have a recognized teaching qualification. You will also need to demonstrate successful support of a ward/department manager and be willing to partake in QI projects. Previous experience of working in an Oncology/Haematology department and people/team management experience are desirable.
