EAB Junior Sister/ Junior Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team in the Oncology & Haematology Emergency Assessment Bay (EAB) at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality clinical care to cancer patients and supporting junior colleagues to learn and develop their skills.
About the RoleThe post holder will collaborate with the department Sister by maintaining smooth daily operations and workflow on EAB and Talbot Butler ward. They will take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients. The post holder will participate in the daily running of the department when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running and in the absence of the Sister/ Charge Nurse, take charge on shift.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and organize the clinical area when on duty.
- Undertake or have a willingness to undertake the SACT course to facilitate administration of SACT within the department.
- Participate as an active member of the nursing team, accountable for your practice and role modeling the highest standards of care to all members of the team.
- Lead by example with drive and enthusiasm, responding appropriately to the needs of patients, families, and carers.
- Assist the Sister/ Charge nurse in the monitoring of workload and skill mix, planning off-duty, and ensuring the ward operates effectively and safely.
- Assist the Sister/ Charge nurse in the completion of a training needs analysis and ensure compliance of the team with Trust expectations in relation to mandatory training and appraisals.
Essential
- NMC registration.
- A recognized teaching qualification and mentorship.
Desirable
- Cytotoxic chemotherapy qualification.
- Recent accredited Oncology or Haematology module.
- Working towards a degree-level qualification.
