Job Title: Consultant in Obstetric Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Obstetric Medicine to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Fetal Medicine and High-Risk Obstetrics, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.

About the Role

This is a substantive replacement post, offering the opportunity to further develop the Fetal Medicine and specialist obstetric services offered by the department. The successful candidate will work closely with our existing team of consultants to provide services to a diverse local population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the supervision and training of under-graduate and post-graduate trainees
  • Take part in clinical governance activities, including risk management and clinical audits
  • Implement audit and research findings in clinical practice
  • Prepare and participate in an annual appraisal in accordance with Trust policy
  • Support the Trust to deliver quality patient care
  • Contribute to the development of clinical and organisational protocols and guidelines
Person Specification
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
  • Must be on the GMC Specialist register or within six months of anticipated receipt at time of interview
  • RCOG ATSM Advanced Labour Ward Practice
  • ATSM/ Subspecialist training in Fetal Medicine or equivalent experience
  • ATSM Maternal Medicine
  • ATSM Labour Ward lead
Requirements
  • Able to perform a full range of Obstetric scanning independently
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics and able to run labour ward and on-call acute gynaecology independently
  • Experience in operating independently on complex caesarean section lists
  • Able to take ownership and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Ability to integrate within, motivate and provide professional leadership in a multi-disciplinary team
