Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join our team at Beckton STW. As a key member of our multi-discipline team, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdown.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  2. Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
  3. Provide technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  4. Use technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Requirements
  1. You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a "true multi-skilled" capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.
  2. Ideally, you will have been upskilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying, or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
  3. The work will require you to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
  4. A valid driving licence is essential.

  2. Standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
