Job Title: Mental Health Response Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Response Practitioner to join our team at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. As a Mental Health Response Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to individuals in crisis, working closely with police officers, crisis teams, and community teams to ensure seamless and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide telephone triaging and support to service users in crisis, including police officers dealing with service users in public areas.
  • Offer counselling support to service users, encouraging them to express their feelings and discuss their problems.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans with service users, ensuring effective risk management and support.
  • Counselling family members and carers to assist them in understanding and supporting service users.
  • Collect and assess information about service users to identify risks and develop management plans.
  • Evaluate service users' physical and mental conditions based on client information.
  • Signpost service users and their families to community resources and other organizations as needed.
  • Support police officers in managing individuals with mental health problems and work collaboratively with them.
Requirements:
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Experience in crisis resolution services and de-escalation skills.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Good leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
