About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Area Manager to lead and drive the performance of a team of Shop Managers and Marketplace Managers. As a key member of the Regional Operations Team, you will be responsible for delivering EBITDA targets within your area, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver EBITDA targets within your area, utilizing the scorecard to measure success.
  • Ensure all activity within the area complies with regulatory requirements, company licenses, and health and safety protocols.
  • Responsible for the rigorous delivery of the business plan and tackling issues specific to your area in the most effective way.
  • Regularly monitor KPIs and data to ensure continuous improvement of shop performance.
  • Diligently manage all cost lines within the budget, ensuring all profit protection processes are implemented effectively.
  • Understand and implement what is required to deliver ROI from all CAPEX spend.
  • Have an excellent knowledge of the area in which you operate and a curiosity about competitor activity and industry trends.
  • Create a high-performing team across all shops by ensuring people management activities such as recruitment, onboarding, training, and development are delivered and managed consistently and to a high standard.
  • Take ownership of the operational delivery of the people plan, focusing on engaging and developing colleagues and creating a robust succession plan.
  • Proactively address any issues that arise head-on and be prepared to have difficult conversations as often as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in a tough multi-site environment (betting/leisure/retail/hospitality preferred) within a middle management capacity.
  • Proven track record of improving colleague engagement and leading high-performing teams.
  • Previous experience of P&L ownership and driving business growth.
  • Strong implementer who can take appropriate action from a set of agreed plans, data, and processes.
  • Driven and enthusiastic with an ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Able to prioritize a large and varied workload effectively for optimum business impact.
