Community Library Service Manager

The Mobile Library Supervisor has a significant impact on delivering an exceptional library service to our residents. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, driving and supervision of mobile library services, maintaining a high level of customer care, and acting as the first point of contact for public access to council services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome library users and deliver a quality service, working at the base or other appropriate libraries as required
  • Support stock circulation procedures using online systems, including issue and discharge of loanable items, membership routines, reservation procedures, and stock maintenance
  • Maintain and clean vehicles in accordance with daily log sheet requirements, including delivery and collection for maintenance/repair
  • Deliver books and equipment as needed
  • Comply with Health Safety & Welfare responsibilities, ensuring safeguarding children in accordance with work roles
  • Participate in training and development, being responsible for self-development
  • Support the implementation of the Service Plan, promoting and marketing all services, contributing to statistical returns, and participating in informal customer consultation

Requirements:

  • Current HGV class 2 driving licence and ability to drive a 12-ton vehicle
  • Experience driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks
  • At least 21 years old (for insurance purposes)
  • Able to use online IT systems effectively and efficiently
  • Demonstrable experience in a highly customer-focused environment with good communication and social skills
  • Ability to deliver quality customer service
