About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Services Assistant at Witham Library. As a key member of our library team, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service to our diverse community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to library users, responding to their queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with the delivery of Rhymetime sessions for children and their families, promoting literacy and a love of reading.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and welcoming library environment, adhering to health and safety protocols and reporting any incidents or concerns.
  • Support the promotion of library services and events, engaging with the local community and promoting the library's role in supporting education and personal development.
  • Assist with the management of library stock, including shelving, tidying, and handling reservations, fines, and membership activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing role, with a strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
