About the Role

To ensure the smooth operation of the school site and properties, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team.

Key responsibilities include maintaining the entire school site and properties, which comprise educational and residential areas, main school buildings, staff residences, and surrounding grounds.

  • Undertake porterage and handyperson duties: moving goods and furniture, painting, minor repairs to property, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks: ensuring that log books are filled in where required and completing tasks in a timely and safe manner.
  • Reactive grounds maintenance: dealing with issues in a timely and safe manner.
  • Liaise with external contractors: ensuring they are aware of potential hazards connected with their presence on the premises, including escorting them when required.
  • Statutory checks: undertaking checks on boilers, water temperatures, and other essential equipment with the Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Manager.
  • Project work: assisting the Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Manager in monitoring small maintenance projects and serviceability checks of school vehicles.
  • Security: responsible for the security of the premises and its contents, including operating fire alarms, locking buildings, checking and securing windows and internal doors.
