We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Environmental Economist to join our team at oilandgas. As a Senior Environmental Economist, you will play a key role in developing and contributing to technical quality assurance and projects with a natural capital and environmental economics focus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and contribute to technical quality assurance and projects with a natural capital and environmental economics focus.
  • Support on flood risk economic appraisals, business cases, biodiversity net gain, and carbon net zero themes on a wide variety of projects across the business.
  • Stay up-to-date with the rapidly developing field of natural capital and the application of evolving economic techniques.
  • Contribute to business development and be responsible for the successful delivery of key tasks on projects or on bids.
  • Manage contributions from junior team members and focus on achieving and delivering technical excellence.
  • Have experience of undertaking flood risk management economic appraisals utilizing the approaches set out in the Multi-Coloured Manual (MCM) and Handbook to develop HM Treasury compliant business cases.

Requirements:

  • Be a Scientist or Economist, preferably chartered, with demonstrable experience in environmental economics through either a combination of academic training or on-the-job experience.
  • Have experience in undertaking economic valuation using a variety of valuation methods to support decision-making.
  • Have some experience of multi-disciplinary project delivery, as environmental economics will often be an input into a wider project.
  • Hold a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Economics or Environmental Science and Policy) and preferably a relevant post-graduate qualification.
  • Be ideally chartered environmentalist or chartered scientist or working towards it.
  • Be a competent project manager, with experience of winning work and technical leadership of projects.
