Job Description

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Economist to join our Natural Capital and Environmental Economics team. As a key member of our team, you will play a central role in developing and contributing to technical quality assurance and projects with a natural capital and environmental economics focus.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and contribute to technical quality assurance and projects with a natural capital and environmental economics focus.
  • Support on flood risk economic appraisals, business cases, biodiversity net gain, and carbon net zero themes on a wide variety of projects across the business.
  • Stay up-to-date with the rapidly developing field of natural capital and the application of evolving economic techniques.
  • Input to the development and refinement of new and existing digital tools that quantify and illustrate environmental impacts in a clear and visual way.
  • Contribute to business development and be responsible for the successful delivery of key tasks on projects or on bids.
  • Manage contributions from junior team members and focus on achieving and delivering technical excellence.
  • Have experience of undertaking flood risk management economic appraisals utilising the approaches set out in the Multi-Coloured Manual (MCM) and Handbook to develop HM Treasury compliant business cases.
Requirements:
  • Be a Scientist or Economist, preferably chartered, with demonstrable experience in environmental economics.
  • Have a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Economics or Environmental Science and Policy) and preferably a relevant post-graduate qualification.
  • Be ideally chartered environmentalist or chartered scientist or working towards it.
  • Be a competent project manager, with experience of winning work and technical leadership of projects.
