Refuse and Recycling Loader

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Refuse and Recycling Loader. As a key member of our operational team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient collection of refuse and recycling from properties across Carmarthenshire.
Key Responsibilities- Collect refuse and recycling from kerbside or designated collection points, loading into vehicles in accordance with operational plans and procedures.
- Operate power mechanisms, including automated loading and compaction equipment, to assist drivers in operational activities.
- Support drivers in manoeuvring vehicles safely, carrying out reversing assistant duties, and controlling traffic.
- Undertake visual inspections of sacks and containers to ensure prohibited waste is not collected and recyclable waste is deposited correctly.
- Clear up debris or spilt refuse from damaged sacks and report heavy littering incidents to drivers.
- Liaise with drivers to report problems and use initiative to resolve operational issues.
- Assist drivers in complying with disposal site rules and regulations.
- Use own initiative to solve operational problems and ensure the service is delivered to the highest standard.
- Engage with the public to promote recycling messages and improve participation in recycling schemes.
- Support other crews in the delivery and completion of waste and recycling collection rounds.
- Undertake all aspects of work in accordance with Divisional/Services policies and procedures.
- Keep up to date with relevant skills and knowledge by complying with training requirements.
- Engage with managers, supervisors, colleagues, and crew members to develop working relationships and implement continual improvement measures.
- Uphold the authority's core values and maintain customer care principles in responding to public queries.
- Wear allocated personal protective clothing and equipment at all required times.
