Emergency Medicine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a key member of our Emergency Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading a team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a first-class clinical service in Emergency Medicine, working closely with consultant colleagues and supporting the development of sub-specialty interests.
- Lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals, ensuring effective leadership and collaboration.
- Sustain and develop teaching and research opportunities, promoting excellence in patient care and medical education.
- Undertake regular clinical audit and provide evidence-based medicine, driving quality improvement and patient safety.
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including audit and research, to maintain professional development and revalidation.
- Take on a teaching and training role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates, promoting excellence in medical education.
- Act as an Educational Supervisor for junior and middle-grade medical staff, providing guidance and support.
- Contribute to the development of business plans and strategies for the specialty and the Health Board, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Core clinical expertise in Emergency Medicine, with a strong understanding of UK hospital systems and clinical governance.
- Experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on effective communication and collaboration.
- Ability to apply knowledge and skills in a fast-paced emergency medicine environment, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and quality care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
- Knowledge and experience of clinical audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice, with a CCT or CESR due within 6 months of interview date.
- FRCEM and valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills.
- Appropriate higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD, or MSc) or equivalent.
- Broad-based experience in Emergency Medicine, with a strong understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news and meeting the requirements of the GMC's Good Medical Practice.
- Experience of working in the NHS or equivalent healthcare system.
- Wider experience, research, and training in providing sub-specialty services.
- Evidence of above-average performance and additional clinical qualifications.
