Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a key member of our Emergency Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our emergency medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in emergency medicine, working closely with consultant colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of sub-specialty interests and services within the hospital and community.
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide teaching and training to medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
  • Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence-based medicine.
Requirements
  • Core clinical expertise in emergency medicine.
  • Experience in leadership and management, with a strong understanding of the NHS and its policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT Or CESR due within 6 months of interview date.
  • FRCEM.
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills.
Desirable
  • Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent.
  • Experience of NHS.
  • Wider experience, research and training in providing sub-specialty service.
  • Evidence of above average performance.
  • Additional clinical qualification(s).
