Job Overview

UK Management College (UKMC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Course Leader to spearhead our BA (Hons) Sociology and Criminology with Foundation Year programme. This role demands a passionate educator and leader to ensure the successful delivery of a robust and innovative programme, driving student success, academic integrity, and programmatic growth in line with UKMC's mission of innovation, diversity, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in the planning, management, and enhancement of the BA (Hons) Sociology and Criminology programme, including the Foundation Year.
  • Curriculum Development & Review: Design, implement, and continuously review program curricula to maintain high academic standards and relevant subject benchmarks.
  • Teaching Excellence & Student Engagement: Foster an environment that promotes excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment through mentorship, faculty development, and student approaches.
  • Faculty Recruitment & Development: Lead efforts to recruit, retain, and develop a diverse, high-performing team of educators with expertise in sociology, criminology, and related fields.
  • Student Support & Success: Support student retention, progression, and success by ensuring a student-centred learning environment and providing academic and pastoral care.
  • Program Evaluation & Quality Assurance: Ensure that the programme adheres to UKMC's academic standards and quality assurance processes, including module evaluation and periodic reviews.
  • Collaboration with Partner Institutions: Work closely with UKMC's partner universities and other external stakeholders to ensure the programme aligns with global educational standards and provides students with international opportunities.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Collaborate with senior management to manage the programme's budget, ensuring resources are allocated strategically to support academic initiatives, research, and faculty development.
  • Community & Industry Engagement: Cultivate partnerships with local communities, law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and other relevant organizations to provide students with real-world experience and applied learning opportunities.
  • Research, Innovation & Scholarship: Promote a culture of research, encouraging faculty and students to engage in cutting-edge sociological and criminological research.
  • Strategic Planning & Institutional Contribution: Contribute to the development and execution of UKMC's strategic plans, particularly as they relate to sociology, criminology, and social sciences programs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: A doctoral degree (PhD) in Sociology, Criminology, or a related social science field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Substantial experience in academic leadership roles, preferably in sociology, criminology, or a related social science discipline.
