About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Financial Services Policy Specialist to join our team at HM Treasury-1. This exciting opportunity will involve crafting the Government's approach to the UK's relationship with the EU in financial services.

As a key member of the International Policy and Partnerships team, you will be responsible for briefing ministers and senior civil servants on financial services in the context of the wider UK-EU relationship.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to engage comfortably with complex policy areas, legislation, and regulatory information. They will also be able to explain these concepts simply and compellingly to others in writing and in person.

In this role, you will take ownership of developing and implementing policy related to regulatory tools needed to build international relationships in financial services.

You will work closely with teams across the Treasury, as well as financial services firms and trade bodies, and UK regulatory authorities, including the Bank of England, Prudential Regulatory Authority, and the Financial Conduct Authority.

The estimated salary for this position is £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Briefing ministers and senior civil servants on financial services in the context of the wider UK-EU relationship.
  • Developing and implementing policy related to regulatory tools needed to build international relationships in financial services.
  • Engaging with teams across the Treasury, financial services firms, and trade bodies, and UK regulatory authorities.
  • Preparing briefings to inform Treasury ministers, senior officials, and policy colleagues on the implications of EU policymaking for UK financial services policy development.
  • Supporting the preparations for formal ministerial-level and senior official dialogues and forums between the UK and EU.
