We are seeking skilled freelance interpreters to work with us on a self-employed basis. As an interpreter, you will provide high-quality interpreting services to clients across the UK, working in a variety of settings.

About the Job:

Job Overview: The role involves providing interpreting services in English and another language, with a focus on legal, health, and local government services. You will need to interpret accurately and efficiently, checking the non-English speakers' understanding after each sentence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret in English and another language
  • Check the non-English speakers' understanding after each sentence
  • Liaise between the service user and service provider
  • Work in a variety of settings, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation and other public and private organisations

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and another language
  • All applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be aged 21 or over
  • Formal qualifications such as Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), Community Interpreting, NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registered is advantageous
  • Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages

Paying Rate: Competitive hourly rate: £25-£40 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications. This rate includes all expenses and equipment costs.
