Marine Quality Assurance Specialist

At Northern Marine, we are seeking a highly skilled Marine Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Houston. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all MQA activities conform to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform vetting and clearance activities, including assessment, screening, and clearance of oil, gas, and chemical vessels and terminals.
- Conduct evaluation of vessel and terminal operator audit/incident reports to determine their conformance with relevant standards/expectations.
- Conduct risk assessments of third-party marine assets for use by our clients.
- Provide operational assurance for time-chartered vessels and ensure delivery of HSSE performance of the time-chartered fleet.
- Support our clients in conducting terminal and refinery audits/inspections.
- Support the MQA Superintendent in ensuring consistent application of all marine assurance policies and procedures.
- Conduct vessel operator TMSA verification audits as support auditor to confirm alignment with self-declarations and compliance with client acceptance criteria.
- Provide feedback to the Audit and Inspection team to support the development and promulgation of audit/inspection best practice.
- Contribute to identifying scope of current and future shipping and marine-related activities, providing early marine advice to ensure compliance with client marine quality requirements and procedures.
- Maintain data within the MQA system and other relevant sources to sustain accurate and contemporary information.
- Provide vetting and clearance support and advice to our clients as requested.
- Provide innovation and development to ensure continuous improvement of systems, processes, procedures, and capabilities.
- Class 2 OOW deck or engine CoC or Marine degree-based qualification together with extensive industry experience as Naval architect/Classification surveyor, etc.
- Lead Auditor or hold a Nationally recognized Barge Master licence.
- Class 3 OOW deck or engine CoC in conjunction with successful completion of structured training plan to progress from Marine Quality Assurance Specialist Assistant role.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to engage successfully with all levels of management in third-party companies within the marine industry.
- Ability to make sound decisions.
- Leadership and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lead/contribute to solving demanding operational problems.
- Commercial sensitivity and business integrity.
