Job Title: Genetic Counsellor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Genetic Counsellor to join our team at Royal Brompton Hospital. As a Genetic Counsellor, you will play a crucial role in providing expert genetic counselling and management of complex inherited cardiovascular conditions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in clinical genetics and a strong background in inherited cardiac conditions. You will be responsible for providing expert clinical opinion on a range of inherited diseases and genetic issues, taking full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert genetic counselling and management of complex inherited cardiovascular conditions
  • Take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
  • Develop and implement standards for clinical audit and evaluate clinical effectiveness
  • Ensure policies and procedures relevant to Genetics are implemented
  • Contribute to the national and international profile of the genetic counselling profession
  • Take an active role nationally in genetic counselling related work
Requirements
  • MSc in Genetic Counselling or other relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Extensive experience in clinical genetics
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting and liaising with other health professionals
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of inherited diseases and genetic issues
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
